Media Curation #3 – YouTube Channel Analysis

The Youtuber that I will be discussing in this Media Curation is RDCWorld1. RDCWorld, known as RDC for short, is a group of YouTubers who perform comedy skits and sometimes short films on their channel. This group has become a very popular group within this generation as they are known for being the source of many memes used on social media. What has primarily contributed to their success is their ability to tap into intimacy and authenticity with their audience. To start RDC builds an intimate relationship with their audience primarily through their skits being filmed in their own house or outside in a park. Their skits are never filmed on professional sets, however they are great at bringing their fictional world to their own home. This leads to RDC being able to show authenticity to their viewers. With RDC filming viral videos from their own home, this shows viewers that they are more than comfortable with utilizing their own space and they also set an example to upcoming creators that it does not take expensive props, sets, and equipment to do what you love. In their videos, RDC also shows authenticity to their viewers by creating original content and even jokes that you will find have never been created or said by anyone else.
